OK on my club's page I'm taking a poll of the best production motor ever made.

What is the GN's motor called? Is it an I6 or a V6? Were there different variants?

If you guys have any suggestions as to other great motors, by all means post up! :) And incase you're wondering the qualification for "best" is whatever is most important to you. Most modable, responds best to mods, fastest stock, fastest modded, best gas mileage, highest rev limit.... whatever.

Thanks guys,
Mike

p.s. are there any GN/T-Types in the Maryland/VA area that would be interested in meeting up? We're a track club but lately we tend to have more social gatherings than track gatherings just cause of the freakin rain! :p

NICE car dude! I've got a couple friends of a friend with Firehawks, they're seriously sick cars. I love 'em. You've gotta be considering your motor as one of the best as well (although I'm sure it'll be second to the GN's motor) ;)

Our motor is the mighty LC2 3.8 liter pushrod V-6. Factory turbo, intercooler, injectors, etc were good deep into the 12 second range on very minor mods. People have run 9s on the stock block (although I wouldn't make that my daily driver). Very strong, VERY modable motor.

I'd suggest this motor and the 350 SBC as my two favorites for pick of "BEST motor of all time". As much as I hate to say it though, that Nissan 3.5 V6 is a beaut as well.

Thanks for stoppin' by. :)

First off, thanks :0 I tend to like my pigeon :) I definitely have the LS1 and Chevy 350 on the list. In fact here's the list as it stands:

LS1 (F/Y-Body)
LT1 (F/Y-body)
LT4 (F/Y-Body)
LT5 (ZR1 Vette)
LS6 (Z06 Vette)
Chevy 350
Modular 4.6 (Mustang and others)
5.0 (Mustang and others)
505 V10 (03+ Viper)
2JZ I6 (Supra)
DOHC 4.6 (Mustang Cobra)
Blown DOHC 4.6(03 Cobra)
LC2 Turbo 3.8(GN/T-Type)
426 Hemi (Mopar)
428 Cobra Jet (Ford)
L72 427 (Yenko Camaro)
454 (Chevy)
440 (Mopar)
Windsor 351 (Ford)

We've got a lot of stang guys in the club, so i'm guessing the 5.0s will rain supreme on this poll, but I'll leave it open for a while and try and recruit some more GM boys ;) Hey if you guys see any great motors I've missed, let me know.

By the way since I'm new to the FI game myself, I'm sure I'll be by from time to time to tap some of the FI expertise you guys have on this board.

later,
Mike

I agree with Weazel. I would have to say in addition to our motors the 350 and any Nissan Maxima motor would be tops on my list.

The 2.8 in the old Z24, Beretta's, etc... are pretty strong too as far as dependability.

The new Hemi from Dodge is going to be a killer motor when it gets into cars.

4.6L Ford  maybe the 1999 and up manual trans versions, but south of that they are pathetic.
