Hi All,

Please see signature.

Basically have stock turbo and Fuel Injectors.

Want to go ahead and buy 50 Lbs Injectors and maybe alky kit. Want to stay street.

Any other suggetions?

You might one to think about 57lb injectors too. A good chip like Steve Y's Max Effort would be a nice purchase. Excellent chip and you can tune a lot of parameters on it.

I am stepping up to 83#s and have 50s on the car now I have around 5000 miles on them.I also have a 50# extender chip for alky too.Might be able to work a nice deal for you if you are interested.

Great mod. I had stock injectors and was running them static at 12.1@110 MPH. I changed to the 50's and made no other changes than the same chip with different injector setting and ran identical times yet my injector duty cycle went down to 70 percent. At 70 the injectors meter the fuel..once theyre static.. who knows.

Alky..lots of info on the alky forums on this board... yes its a great mod.. wouldnt own one without it. Some pixs at my link down below as well..

Chips.. there are a bazillion chips out for 50's.. the verdict is still out on the 57's since theyre relatively new. 50's can take you into the 10's fuel wise..especially with alcohol..since its like a 7th injector of sorts.

I went ahead and puchased the 50's. I will have to probably wait for the Alky Kit until I get the new injectors tuned in. However, I will need to get a chip...

Question: How can I conserve on chip costs...I figure for every mod, I would have to buy a new chip.

And looking at my plans on incremental upgrades (injectors, alky kit, new turbo, different gas etc...this can be very costly. Any insights??

Thanks,

A few things can be done.

LS1 MAF setup and Extender chip. Big initial outlay of cash great tunability under all conditions from street to alky. to full race.

Get two conventional 50 chips now. One pump gas 93 and one alky.

I would get a 20 degree timing street chip and turn up the boost for alky.

Later on a timing translator could be added to mod. the timing or else reburn the chip to increase the timing when the alky. and rest of the combo is under control.

Alky. is a bit easier to tune with lower timing as well 20* is good.

Shouldn't get you in too much trouble until you put the alky, kit on. ;)

Depends on goals. Most cars respond well with a street timing chip for alky. If you get any 93 octane chip, alky will typically work well with that chip. As far as every mod requiring a new chip.. yes and no. Problem is there never is the perfect chip. There is always some improvement that can be made. Some guys have made over 300 chips and not been 100%. So we tend to get something close that the car is happy with. As long as heads, cam, and IC remain stock.. the generic chips work well.

If cost is an issue, I may have a few 50 lb chips laying around you can have for little $$.

While the translator and extender offer knobs to play with, its initial outlay is $$$ and depends on finances. As an eventual, certainly. Get the car maxed out with what you have first, then decide on its progression.

Lastly, do not try and run 50's with a stock injector chip. It will be black smoke city.
