OK so I have a TTA with an extreme automatics 200-4r and I am running a precision industries LU vigilante 3500 stall converter. It seems as though as the trans fluid warms up the converter gets noiser and noiser. It makes a rattleing clacking sound. I have had this for one summer I bought it used and have not had any issue with it other than this. I am wondering if this is cause for alarm or concern. I believe this converter is the 5 disc type but am not sure. I dont think this converter was so loud when I first got it but I can't be sure of that.

Thanks

Jarred

You could have a problem. I have the same converter and have had to get it rebuilt after less than 1500 miles. Mine made noise on and off when in gear. Then I started hitting my rev limiter way easy. When I shut the motor off it sounded like there was a handfull of change rolling around in the converter. Ended up being a broken off fin in the converter. If you know a good trans shop take it there and let them listen to it. Good luck!

Ive been told the older units made alot of noise. at idle it can sound like its full of rocks. But if its only a few years old that problem has been solved. I wanted a 5 disc but do most of my driving on the street so went another route. If you give precision the numbers stamped into it I think they will tell you how bad it should be. They were very helpful when I spoke to them

i have a vigilant 5 disc and it make noise in park and in drive i can hardly hear it, I had it cut open and check nothing wrong just the way it is, from what i have been told the disc rattle against each other, precision fix was wave washer in between the disc, but they had a problem with that and it caused the converter disc start to drag and lock , i lock my converter under full throttle and it works great 1 to 1

$250 to r&r it plus shipping and they will not garrantee noise to be gone, call them see what they say tell them the problem you are having. could be as much as 475 and it will not make as much noise for a little while but it will come back. 5 disc converter make noise some more then others
