Nitrous and Alky ??? Anyone tried this yet??

Ok this is something a buddy of mine is talking about for my car next spring :D
Running Alky and N2O now instead of fuel added by the N20 Kit it would add alky to the mix (No fuel) So what would happen is the Razor kit would be hooked in to the N20 system or Nozel and when armed would shoot alky and N20 at the same time to keep out of knock. N

Now heres the deal this would be on a race gas tune to start with (110 Synoco or Turbo Blue) @ 24-27lbs of boost. He claims on a Mustang he set up that it worked well, I just dont want to blow a motor up I have way to much in this new motor to due something dumb just because a buddy says it works. :eek:

I WANT YOUR IDEAS AND INFO ON THIS :D PLEASE!!

We are not talking a lot of n2o here 50-75 HP max and this is more a street car then a racer but when we race we are playing for keeps!! :D

I'll let ya know very soon ! My buddy just hooked up a wet NOS 75 shot to his car, he also just finished installing Razor's PAC! Soon as the bottle is filled, we're going for some "test" runs
 
Bring a broom and shovel with you just in case! That sounds like a risky move
 
I've been testing a dry kit on my car, but have no track data. Adding timing on some motor runs I finally got a head gasket before I could try the spray.

I did it the had way and added the additional fuel thru the injectors with the TT chip. My street testing was no knock at 23 degrees timing. All I noticed grabbing the button in 3rd gear was a 2psi gain in boost. No real seat of the pants difference though the car was pulling harder. Now leaving on it it, was INSTA BOOST :D

I might have it running again in a couple weeks and I'll give some updates when I do. I'll probably be doing some testing at the BOP race in Georgia in November if everything works out.
 
I agree..You'd think that a .30 over motor, done up heads, postons cam, 70mm TB and doghouse, 60lb moto's, alky and a TE-64 Turbo would be enough for him !!

Now Are you guys running the Alky set up seprate or adding it with the N2O instead of extra fuel??
Budy says add the Meth with the N20 and no more fuel and only at full boost from a dead dig or full boost rolling down the road.
He did say it was insta boost out of the hole and i could run a huge turbo and not a lot of converter, this would be fun on the street. :D

:confused: Now some hard #'s and some tunning data guys need to know what happens or happend ;)
and how it works out. I really due know Lazlo is a good tunner and I am sure he can make this work just didnt know how well or if anyone has tried it.

:eek: Also those who just think this is nuts please dont add your .02 I and the guys trying this really dont care for the neg. feedback unless you have tried it and had a very bad exsperiance then I would like to know. :eek:

RAZOR have you heard of or tried this at all had any cust. that have done it with sucsess??? :confused:

You must need a lot of meth shinse you are runing it with the blower and the N2o
I was thinking of using the Razor kit and haveing activate with the n20 and then run the race gas for the motor. :)
But if gas gose down I think that Alky for both will be cheaper. We just got a new block and are sending it out this week. (Stock 109 block with forged internalls but stock crank and rods)

May go o-ring on the heads but not sure yet

Whats your # so I can add it to my roll a dex so when we get there we can talk :D

Not getting into any details ;) Its called 6 months of dyno testing and proding to make it work.. tho its been done on a supercharger.. the turbo test is coming. The Vette in the link was on a stock GM computer. Dont know if a chip setup would work with stuff like this. As corrections would need to be done when the nitrous hits. And our chips typically dont do anything when the tables hit 255. Maybe the translator pro, extender extreme, etc.. may do the job. I'll be using a FAST.

I'll post results when they become available.

Hey whats up,I just registered on this site. I am in the process of installing Alky and nitrous with a tnt power ring kit. the ring is like 3/8 inch thick wich makes a good place to thread in a nozzle.

Are you adding N20 with the alky or alky and then the N20 with MORE FUEL?? :confused:

I'm about 90% done with the install.I'm adding a fuel pump voltage booster just in case.as far as tuning goes...I dont know what the hell to do.This set up is going to be dyno tuned by someone who knows is all I can say.I can send a pic of the power ring with the nitrous/alky nozzles so you can see if the setup will work for you.I just hope it works and I cant wait to try it out! :eek:

Hate to be a pain just woud like to compare notes and see if I am going the right way :)
I am looking for a 4-5 gallon Fuel cell that will fit in the spare tire well or that arera anyway :)
Any info on what fuel pump to use?? I dont know of to many that will pump meth and not take a sh*t in a hurry :(

I think this is going to really make this car screem!!! :eek:

I'll send you some pics in the morning but for now I'll send you a link of a power ring setup that is very similar to mine but without the alky you can see how it could be threaded in though and how the power ring attaches to the throttle body.It's basically a machined aluminum ring that gives you a nice thick place to thread in nozzles.it has an o-ring on the inside to seal where your intake duct used to clamp on with allen set screws to hold it in place.I'll need your e-mail to send pics--Todd http://www.newmansjunk.com/images/mag.jpg

i played around with nitrous a little and honestly the best way to use it i found was a 50 shot ran long enough to build boost. i should have wired in a hobbs switch to shut it down at 10#. the cooling effect of a small shot (30-40 hp) actually did more for my 1/4 mile times when used for the whole run. once i started going to the 50 and 75 hp level i was having problems with knock and even when i wasn't the car didn't like it too much. your better off with more boost than you are with nitrous.

if you wanted to get real trick the way to go would be a small step above a 50 (like 60 or so, one size bigger jets) thats ran off a throttle switch and the brake switch. so you can stage, hit the button but it won't spray until your off the brake. then a hobbs switch set at 10-15# would shut it off when boost is reached.

then if you REALLY want to get trick do a 2 stage with something like a 30 shot that would turn on after the first stage is off, giving you the cooling effect without so much of the extra power. that nossel would be best off as low in the intake as possible so it has the most time to cool the air.

heres the times i saw. it was a totally street setup in a fairly stock car. 20# 22*timing ran 14.1's. vp c16 fuel

small shot ran the whole track went 13.2
50 shot off the line went 13.4, much better 60' (don't remember specifics)
50 shot ran whole track 13.3-13.4
my best run with this setup was with a 75 shot ran off the line and on and off through out the run as knock would allow. went a 12.9 obviously too much boost and No2.

the best 60' ever was with the 50 shot off the line with a high 1.7. no nitrous best was a 2.3

so use it to reduse spool time... thats my best advise.

Just called Livernois Motorsports and they sell Methyl all right $6.94 per gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad: and they only stock 15 gallon drums!!! WTF!!! :eek:
They Fin suck bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:
Prices blow big time I am back to looking for a new supplier :confused:
