I seem to have no 2nd gear. I just pulled the tranny apart to replace the direct clutch pack and dual feed the direct. I also installed one of CK's new seperator plates. I have no 2nd gear. If I understand this right I should still be in 1st gear if the band is not applying. but the car revs right out like to forward clutch is also slipping, but at take off 1st feels fine. Once I get the car to shift into 3rd its ok. But I can pull the shifter back to 2nd and the car will rev out. I checked line pressure it is where it should be in all gears. TV min and max. I pulled the servo out and inspected the seal and they also look fine. The governor is fine. Anybody have any advice?

Did you forget to put the transfer tube back on the valvebody? Is it seated correctly?

I think you may have missed the apply lug on the band when installing the servo assembly. Luckily for you it can be fixed without pulling the trans. Just drop the pan, remove the servo, and insert a blade screwdriver in between the band and the case on the opposite side of the trans the servo is on. This will hold the band in the proper location making for an easy servo install without missing the lug. You could check the servo before doing all this by having a friend in the car go from first to second on the shifter while you preload the servo into the case with a big pry bar. The hydraulic action of the fluid will force the cover back out to the servo snap ring instantly when it goes for 2nd. This way you will know the servo assembly is getting pressurized properly. Its actually trying to apply the band but cant since the lug is out of position. With it out of position the servo just bottoms out in the case before it can apply anything.
