yesterday i took out my charcoal canister to make more room for me to work around it b/c of my cold air setup. i took a screw and screwed it in the end of the vac. line and then tightened a hose clamp around the screw to keep it secure even though it probably doesnt need it b/c the check valve is still in place. my question is since i have a few other problems w/my car i cant tell if this has affected my idle or not. can the engine still pull vacuum past a check valve, screw and a hose clamp? and does the engine require a certain amount of vacuum to run right or is what i did just fine and wont affect anything?

I would get a relocation kit for it and keep it. You did the right thing however by blocking off the vacuum line if you have to move it.

No

Vacuum is something that your motor creates and is a good indicator of how your motor is running. Steady vacuum from 15 to 18 is an indication of a good running motor IMHO.

If you don't want it, ditch it. It will have zero effect on how the car runs. This only effects emmisions. I used a rubber cap and blocked the line off where it hooks up over by the throttle body.
