I installed my stageright today and found my low/overrun plug, spring and valve missing. Trans has been built for years with no issues. Just found it to be odd. Anyone else seen this and why.

I have talked to builders that think it is not necessary. Many just remove the spring.

That not having it or replacing it. But mine was not in the trans. No valve, no spring and no plug.

leaving out the valve will result in an abrupt apply of the low reverse clutch when the manually shifted to low or when the valve body backshifts it to lo in manual second when governor pressure in insufficient enough to hold the valve open against oil present at the 1/2 valve train.this could result in a violent jerk or skidding.line pressure is re regulated at the valve to only give the low overrun clutch what it needs to hold the rear carrier stationary to initiate reduction and ground it to the case when the input member to the output shaft is the driveshaft during coast or lift throttle backshifts to lo when the driveshaft is the input member.my first instinct when i read this was ti wip out a valve body and look at the circuit but im at home so i cant.i would guess that leaving it out will cause a loss of line pressure and no engine breaking in manual low.not vey wise in my opinion.the reason the stage right pegs the valve is because the 90 pounds it is regulated to is not enought to hold the carrier when the engine and converter is in maximum stall.dont leave it out on a non brake application imo its foolish.

Thanks Chris. Now that I have the brake its time to find out what your convertor will do. I have owned it for four years. The first year and half in a box, and the last two years I have went down the track six times. Plus about 250 miles on the street. Now time to brake it in.

in my post i meant leaving out the valve and reinstalling the plug and roll pin.this sends full line to the lo clutch .pinning the valve will do the same thing.
