No reverse?

A buddy of mine with a TR told me that his car won't go into reverse. He checked the linkage and that seems fine...what else might cause this? He said he hears a clunk but the wheels don't turn.

Check this

Are the l/r clutches holding? Put it in manual low, run up to 25-30 mph and lift. Does car decompress? (Slow car down) or does it just freewheel? Is it dual fed?
These will answer alot of the question. Ck it out and report.

Ok more info...he has a stageright t-brake and it seems that it's on the t-brake when in reverse...he is able to build boost without holding the foot brake just like he pulled it back into 1st gear for a normal launch. What would cause the t-brake to engage when the shifter is in reverse and how is this problem fixed? Otherwise the tranny seems to work fine in all other gears. TIA

Yes, put in in Neutral and the tires take off like a bat out of hell.
