well this problem occurs in my POS neon...

driving around town it is fine... but if i get stuck in traffic or in a long wait at the drive thru... the car starts to over heat unless i really crank up the heat...

what would cause something like this... when i get the car moving all is well and it is at normal temp... only when i am going really slow it overheats..

would this be a t-stat or a rad problem or what?

i dont know what to do to the thing but this problem really sucks if i try to do alot of things!

thanks

oh this is an easy fix, remove the rad. cap, set car on fire, get ins money and by an other car :D

well make sure that you have plenty off coolant, make sure your fan switch works. so rent a rad. pressure tester and test the system.

hmm wish i could do the first but i just have PLPD which coveres nothing except the other drivers...

it has sufficient rad fluid... could be the fan not working... dont believe i havent htought of that yet...

i will have to check and see.... dont think it could possibly be the t-stat? that would be a cheap fix and would be nice if it were that prob...

ah well thanks for the tips

true, did you say you bought a new rad cap as well?

just listen for the fan or drive around get it really hot pull over and open the hood to check the fan, or Hot wire it.

alright thanks for the tips!... probbaly isnt to hard to hot wire the fan of a neon to a switch inside...

it actually has a new rad cap and new coolant and stuff...

will have to check on the POS fan
