Hey guys . . . I'm using a buddy's login, he said I should come here and ask you guys this question as you more than likely will be able to help out. I apologize in advance if this is not the proper forum, wasn't sure where to post.

I've got a twin-turbo '98 Camaro. I cracked #1 ringland a few months ago, and am rebuilding. My buddy ( who used to own a TTA ) is worried about the #1 injector. I had a very clean spot on the topside of the piston, covering about 25-30%. I mean it was almost WHITE it was so clean, in comparison to the rest of the piston. I was also running alky injection. I honestly think the injector is fine ( they were only a couple of months old ). But I certainly don't want the injector to be an issue on my new setup, can't afford to do this again. What do you think? I wonder if the alky went lean just in that cylinder ( I was injecting just before the TB, so distribution isn't perfect ). My buddy really thinks I need to replace the injector for peace of mind. They are the SVO 42lb greentops, and I'm told I can't buy them in singles. HELP!!!

And I LOVE the GN's . . . my goal is to own one someday!!

Technically this should have went in the lounge... ;)

Get ahold of the d00d at Racetronix and see if he can help you out.

Thanks man ( this is my new ID posting here ). I figured this would end up being the wrong place, sorry! ;)

Any comments however on whether the injector could be bad? What would you do?

Hmmm......As much as your say you are putting into your motor, an injector would be a drop in the hat. I'd do it for peace of mind.

Bandit ...

The reason Dug posted this is because he was told by a few vendors that his injectors are not avail anymore. He could certainly purchase a complete new set of something else in a high ohm injector, but the ones he has now are almost brand new ... And money is a little tight at the moment.

The piston that broke in his motor really looked clean (lean) in comparison to the rest. I have a feeling the injector is not flowing as much as the rest, and just went too lean resulting in the fractured piston ... Since he just replaced the aluminum LS1 stock 5.7 block with a new 6.0 steel truck block and new low compression forged pistons, I just think he would be safe replacing that one suspect injector. Having it flowed on a bench would more than likely cost almost as much as purchasing a new one (if we can find a new replacement)

Anyway, he made 621rwhp / 684rwtq on a bone stock 10.1 CR motor with 12 psi of boost. and 91 octane pump gas.

Now, I just need to find where I can replace this so-called non-avail injector.

Thanks,
Ron (ex-89 TTA owner 11.87 @ 114)

You could send that one injector to John Spina and have him clean/flow the injector. That would tell you for sure if the injector is ok or not.
