If I have a non Turbo Regal 2004r in my car can it be built as strong as one from a turbo car?
I am looking a a rebuild soon and I think that the tranny in my GN is not the origanal. So, is it possibly to have a mine built to withstand low 11 sec times or should I go buy a BRF core to srat out with?

Thanks,
Matthew

What leads you to believe that the current transmission isn't correct?

Even if it's not, the issue of it being a BRF or not has little to do with the strength potential of the transmission. The main reason folks are adamant about having the BQ or BRF units is the shift point calibrations. It's usually a struggle to get a non-TR 2004R to shift at the desired times in a TR.

That being said, if your shift points happen to be correct, then have that unit built up. Following advise in Bruce's sticky post at the top of the forum, ATTENTION!!!! NEW VERSION!! Strengthening The 2004r, will go a long way in making any 2004R live.

Thank you very much. Mine shifts at the correct points. I know before I got my car the trans had been re-built a few times. The previous owner seems to think that it is not the origanal trans.

I am pretty sure that I am facing a re-build very soon. I dropped it of at the trans shop this am. I am thinking it could possibly be the pump going, but I am not holding my breath.

I was just curious if it would be worth putting the money into the one I have(if it is not a BRF) or if I should spend the extra money and buy a BRF core.

Thanks again,
Matthew
