My regular Norton anti-virus/firewall subscription was going to be up. So I upgraded to Norton 360 thinking it would be better...NOT:mad:  . Ever since upgrading, I loose my internet connection (cable). I am also using AOL. Do I have to manually config my ports (clueless on what they mean).

I added the required AOL programs to the Norton Firewall. It still doesn't work correctly. The web site load slowly then I get disconnected. When it works, it works fine. Where do I find my network adapters?

I contacted Norton and AOL and they blame each other...WTF computer geeks.

I am ready to trash this Norton 360 unless someone here could help me out here. Do I have to do anything with the port connections?

Any recommended Firewall, Anti-virus/spyware programs out there that are good?

Thanks

AVG Free - Download antivirus and antispyware software for Windows XP and Vista Awesome free anti-virus. I do the install an uncheck the option to do daily scans and leave the search and browser ad-on off as well. I have been running it for nine or so years now with zero complaints or viruses.

Firewall Freeware, Free Firewall Protection Software, Firewall Shareware: ZoneAlarm® Free Firewall Software.

Very popular firewall that is easy to manage and allows per-program internet access.

Ditch the norton stuff.

I had to remove the Norton off my mother in laws lap top. It was causing many similar problems. As stated above AVG works well for free. She also has AOL which was half of the problem.

Thanks guys

I got rid of Norton 360 and installed AVG. Computer works faster.

Also e-mailed Norton for a refund and they replied back that I should see a full refund within the next 7 days.
