I went to the Norwalk Smackdown event held for the Ford boys on Friday and was very impressed with the quality of cars I saw there. There were even 2 GN's (I didn't take mine since I'm working on getting the DS header replaced), including Mark Jackson's (from Cridersville Ohio) beast that ripped off a 9.40 something with a wheels up launch. Awesome!

Also, my son (ViciousV6) ripped off an incredible 12.09  with his very low mile '03 Cobra on the stock tires after only a pulley and chip change! And, it has LOTS more room for improvement - it's definitely got high 11's in it in its present state of tune.

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to the crew that put the event together! It was organized by a Lima Ford fanatic, Ben Dorn. Ben is an incredibly nice guy who appreciates fast cars of all types and will do anything to help. Our hobby needs more guys like Ben.

Outstanding!

I've seen Mark run at Marion quite a few times. Car is VERY impressive. Stock ECM, stock MAF.

What mods are done to the Cobra? What kind of MPH did it make? Very nice ET, especially on the stock tires.

The only mods worth mentioning are a 2.8 pulley, and a Diablo Chip. It ran the 12.09 with a 118mph speed.

It's gonna be a killer car when he gets it dialed in, no doubt about it.

Mark has since ditched the factory MAF and is running Steve Yaklin's ME-R. First time out with the ME at the Norwalk event. His previous best was a 9.57 I think, but the car ran consistent 60's with the factory one screen removed MAF and stock modded ecm.

I've watched him rip off consistent 70's at Marion... that's damn impressive (hardly any prep).

It is a very clean car. Seems like a nice guy from the little I talked to him.

Raven, very nice numbers out of the Cobra. Not sure if you'd be interested, but a local F-Body group has Norwalk rented on Oct. 17, it's open to everyone and only costs $30. I may make a post seeing if any of the Columbus guys want to head up there.

I should be on race gas and slicks. :)

Yeah, I would definitely be interested! I'll be ready by then and if Ike is off, I bet I could get him to bring his Cobra up. Let me know more when you can, such as times etc. Sounds like fun - I'll bring my digital camera and get some pics too.

I am a TR guy all the way, but I saw a Mustang run this past friday is worth mentioning. It ran 4.5 in the 1/8 Mile. small block ford Turbo car. If i am not mistaken, it ran 175 MPH on that run. There are some real fast ones out there.
