well.....its got gn int. though. Doesn't that qualify it to go ahead and be labled as a gn?

Its a clone. The vin is gj, that is a regal not turbo car. gk is the turbo code and gm is the limited code. He also has no pictures of under the hood. Buyer be ware.

The "7" as the eighth character into the VIN designates it as an "from the factory LC2-Turbo V6" option. It may or may not have been a GN but they would have had to get chrome trim for all around the car to make it how it is now. I'm gonna assume they just replaced the interior. Did they do the carpet black too? Kinda looks like it.

Check the dash plaque and the horn button if you can clean up the pictures. A quick glance at thr RPO codes in the trunk would tell you if it was a WE2 or not, the final word in whether it was or wasn't a GN. If so, just make sure the VINs all match and viola!, you have your answer.

It does have the 7 for the SFI turbo, but its a base regal. The K in the vin is for GN and T's, This one has a J. I thaught posting it as a GN was misleading, thats why I put it here.

From Gnttype.org: http://www.gnttype.org/general/vin.html

Example: 1G4GJ117XHP400001 for a 1987 Grand National:

1 = Manufacturing Country (USA)
G = Manfacturer (GM)
4 = Division (1=Chevy, 2=Pontiac, 3=Oldsmobile, 4=Buick, 5=GMC, 6=Cadillac)
G = Series (G body)
J = Sales/Option level (Regal ... K was supposed to be GN, but wasn't used)
1 = Body Code (2 Door Coupe)
1 = Restraint System (manual belts)
7 = Engine Code (LC2 3.8L SFI Turbo
X - Check Digit
H = Model year (H = 1987)
P = Plant Code (Pontiac Michigan)
400001 = Serial number

Definitely not an expert, just regurgitating data....

Thats right, I forgot the J was used instead of the K. My mistake. :redface: I would still like to see better and more pictures of the car. The pictures are fuzzy, like he's trying to hide something.

I used the facts & figures book to check the info I put up so I learned something about the codes. But I also looked in the VIN decoding you posted and it has J's for 85-87. My car is an 85 and it has a K. So I'm guessing that letter goes either way. I'm in no way an expert, but was just using the resources I had to maybe help someone identify what I thaught was a misrepresentation. Bottom line, I'd be quite upset if I bought a car I thaught was a GN, and found out later to be a regular regal.

No doubt. I hope nobody gets burned by this seller but as usual it is "buyer beware". Anyway, if you had a GN why would you go out of your way to paint it something other than black? :confused:

It does have pics under the hood,and it is a turbo engine under it. But who knows :confused:.
