my friend was wondering why not many people run nitrous and i said go to the alky/nitrous forum and check it out and he asked why most run a small shot and i said b/c boost + a lot of nitrous = lean out and blown HG or worse. am i right?

With a turbo, you can just turn up the boost to get more power!

Although nitrous works great when used properly, it is one more thing to go wrong, so why complicate matters?

Many people use a small shot (50-75 HP) which helps get the boost up quicker, but that same 50-75 HP could be gained by just cramming more air into the engine (although with a bit of delay because of spool-up).

Also I'm told that because the density of oxygen is higher in nitrous than in air, the combustion of nitrous enriched mixture happens faster than combustion using air/fuel alone, which makes detonation on nitrous much worse than detonation on air/fuel. (Not 100% sure on this one)

Once you've reached the threshold of boost on a given setup, injecting alchy will allow even more boost. And, alchy acts as a detonation suppressant.

Well I agree, but IMO an added-on alchy or propane system also qualifies as one more thing that can go wrong and complicate matters... :)
