not shifting [ help ] question

I had a nice guy e mail me and ask me if i need a vac line on my trans like the th-350's need . Could this be y my 200r4 is not shifting out of first gear, it does go in every gear like rev and drive but no up shifts. This trans also has a non locking valve in it.

so my question is do i need a vac line to get my non locking trans to shift. There is a little like 1/4 line on the top of the trans is this for a vac line. I have not vac lines to my brf trans

please help.

There is no vac lines to the 200r4 trans, the line on top is a vent tube and should be left opened. Your shifting problem is probably gov/vb related.

did you check for the spring in the gov. yet?

did you pull it out and check the gear on it too?

I did pull the pan and check the springs , it had two there but i did not check any gears. Just changed the filter and fluild and put it back up.

well its not brf with 2 springs

brf governors only have one but it should still work if the gears not stripped or broke that spins it.

Do you think its worth the pain to pull the pan and check the gov gear , and drop the valve body. I really dont know what i am looking for .


I have a trans guy that is going to look at it monday.
