Not sure what a ScanMaster does? Newbie

I just bought a GN and trying to keep it stock Anyway I have a twin turbo before but still not familar with what a ScanMaster does. I have an intake, getting a fuel pump upgrade and a Joe Lubrant chip. Do I really need a ScanMaster? What will it do?
