Just wanted to tell everyone that just because your cooler flows 2.9 quarts or better doesn't mean it is good. I fought a problem with my 87 that I could drive the car easy for almost 70 miles checking for a leak that would come out of converter cover after getting on it and could never see exactly where it came from. Tried different pump bodies, a different torque converter. It never blew the seal out but looked as if it would leak from where the seal was pressed into the pump. Did as David Husek suggested by throwing it on the lift, pulling TV cable to max and slowly raising the rpm's and watching for the leak with my face shield on. NO LUCK. Let it cool down and the next day after work, unhooked the cooler lines and hooked up the flush machine...again. Went inside and ate my dinner and right as I went in the side door of my garage, the pump went to full pressure and it blew the line off and "solvent" all over the garage floor. Something in the radiator cooler plugs up and backs up and it has to push out somewhere so the seal was letting it all out. I eliminated the radiator cooler and have been driving the car hard and zero leaks. It was something simple but everytime I had flushed and checked flow, it passed. Was getting so frustrated not being able to drive the car. Now it is a blast again. Hope this helps someone.
