I just got this and, believe me...I'm just as surprised as you.
Gateway International Raceway is happy to announce that the ongoing repair to the drag racing timing system is scheduled to be completed on May 3 in time for Wednesday Night Slick Tire Drag Racing. Unfortunately, the system will not be complete in time to run the Tuesday Night Street Tire Drag Racing Program on May 2.
Gateway has been working persistently to repair the timing system which was damaged by a high voltage surge, either caused by a power surge or a lightning strike. Ironically, the system initially showed very little symptoms of the surge, with the only irregularity being faulty pre-stage bulb voltage in the track’s left lane.
Gateway International Raceway is urging all Wednesday night racers and spectators to check www.gatewayraceway.com or call 618-482-2400 on Wednesday to ensure the system will be complete for Wednesday night drag racing.
