As we know, race gas fouls O2 sensors. Can you still run the car with that fouled O2 sensor but tune the car using EGT and knock retard or do you have to change the O2?

The ecm uses the O2 sensor input for fuel control,
so a lazy or lead fouled sensor will affect the fuel
delivery. It'll also hurt your fuel mileage.
Get a new O2 sensor before you go racing for sure.

MaxEffort chip doesn't use the O2 sensor input:p

actually, the 02 inputs are used everywhere except WOT.....so not much effect when racing other than spool up...if you "learn in" a good 02 with unleaded and change to the bad 02 with leaded...all will be fine unless you unplug the ecm

as stated, the ME doesn't use the 02 at all and no chip uses it at WOT......except maybe a FAST system with a wideband...it does correct at WOT

I believe the T+ and extender can run in open loop also

egt is a better way to tune than 02

Woody--I have the Translator with the Extender chip. If I set it to open loop, then are you saying that I don't need to worry about the condition of the O2? Should I still 'learn in' with a good O2? Thanks.

I do not have your set up, but as i understand it, you can, indeed run in open loop (meaning no 02)

maybe someone who "knows" will chime in

otherwise, you can do as I suggested

Thanks. I'll do as you suggested unless someone who 'knows' differently chimes in.

I killed an O2 at the track with C16. Car started idling like crap. I reset my Extender chip to open loop idle and all was well again. I believe my Rev E Extender only allows open loop idle now, whereas the previous Rev D allowed you to have the choice of open loop at idle or all of the time. May want to check that with Bob Bailey.
