What are the readings usually for cars on alky - have many of you had weird reading like 350-500 milivolts?

Also for those of you in the 11's on Alky -
What chip, what f/p, What spark plug, how much boost. and any other hints you got. Do you guys use the RJC power plate?

TIA

O2's should read normal. I put a brand new O2 sensor in not to long ago and it read 200 or so. Changed to another brand new one and it reads normal.

Maybe do the same for yours. BTW, they were GM O2 sensors. Guess I just got a bad one?

I run 43psi, TurboTweak chip, Autolite 103 plugs, 23# of boost, RJC plate is a must IMHO. I also have a good tranny with a Vigilante converter. I have the same cam but run PT51, stock intercooler, stock heads, 50# injectors, 3" exhaust all the way back, stock 3.27 gears.

93 octane and on Nitto drag radials...my everyday setup :)

Thanx for your response. I tried to turn boost up at track but the car responded by bucking. Today I will change plugs to ur5s or cr42ts [been running cr43ts] and regap at .032 instead of .035 [i think i might have been blowin out the spark] I will also put my power plate back on and change O2 sensor. Yesterday I ran a 12.8 @ 110.83 and I know if i hook I can do much better. I want to get my mph's up a whole lot though maybe 117+

Its his alky chip. I run it on the street and at the track. 93 octane only. It has less timing than his regular alky chip per my request.

Too much alky will slow you down. Too little and you'll knock. the turn-on point is the balance between the two. If your bucking chances are you have to reduce pump pressure or increase the turnon point. Careful on setting it too high since it can not catch up to the detonation.

I run same mods as TTA1387 cept the I have the stock cam and a 12 inch converter.

If the bucking is alcohol related its one issue. If its motor related its another.

Run boost, lock the converter, get the O2's down into the 760 range and keep the alky lean and mean..you'll pickup MPH.

I use an EGT guage for such a reason since the O2 sensor isnt always reliable. You'll be amazed.

Do you look for the same egt numbers as w/o alky? Razor what are the typical egt numbers you would get [ leaning towards the safe [rich] side]?

Anybody running alky with the extender chip not designed for alky? - speaking of which what designates an alky chip from a regular street chip? is it that much timing difference involved...or what?

EGT's before turbo safe are 1500..but thats not making power. Assumming no detonation/knock 1570-1600's are trimmed..1600-1650 are lean 1650/1700+ your cooking something. Temps above 1650 are really on the edge for some..If you get a little knock and run 1650's..they'll spike way over 1700. See knock will shoot EGT's up.

So 1650's and zero knock I would say is at the peak of power on my car. Safer is 1550's and if you get a little knock, those egt's climb to mid 1600's. Fuel pressure will get your EGT's where they need to be. Just watch how much alky. You only want enough to control detonation. Too much and the car will lose MPH. Good thing is you should have plenty of alky :D Just trim the gain knob down till you see the knock guage get tickled. Like .5-1 degrees then turn it up a little. Your there.

You have to watch a combination of O2's and knock. I have had runs where the car was 740's at 26 PSI and zero knock..but thats blowing a lot of alky. Sometimes your faster at 770's for O2's and less alky. Be happy you can trim the control and get it there.

Alky chips have increased timing by most vendors. Theyre kinda like a 97 octane chip. Get the car running 100% on a lower timing street chip..like a 18-20 degree chip..maximize its trap speed..then move up to a chip 1 degree hotter..then 1 more degree..till you find the limit of your combo. So items like translator plus lets you alter timing. As well as multiposition chips. Or get a chip guy to make you higher timing chips. What works best for your combo?? dunno.. But I hope my advice gets you there quicker.

I have a programmer and can add timing or reduce it. First you need to get a chip the car likes and drives well with..then you worry bout adding timing.Timing addition is easy..getting the fueling and drivability rite on..thats hard...

HTH...
