I just realized this GN I bought doesn't have cruise control. You gotta be kidding me. I didn't know you could by a GN without it.
Anyway can it be added or is it not worth the trouble?
What would need to be done?

By not having cruise control do you mean it doesn't have a cruise control servo? (located on drivers side inner fender) Do a canvas of what you have like cruise servo, turn signal switch with cruise buttons, cruise control module. Depending on what you have it might be simple or a pain. The hardest part will be the cruise module for our cars as they aren't available in the aftermarket so you will have to buy one used if you want the factory setup.

Meaning the car was not equipped from factory. No switches on turn stalk.

Well after fooling with a couple of these here is the parts list for factory setup with ball park pricing on items I have checked before:

Cruise Servo $90
Cruise Servo Bracket USED
Cruise Servo Pigtail (might be same connector as ESC, if so $17)
Cruise Module USED $50??
Cruise Module Bracket USED
Cruise Module Pigtail (Must Have not sure where to source)
Cruise Control turn stalk $60
Cruise Control Vacuum Res (if you dont have it) $15
Cruise control cable
Cruise control stoplight switch

If you could find a harness from the servo to the module you would be in business. The wiring isn't too hard as most of the wiring runs between the servo and the module with a lead to the VSS and to ground IIRC. Best bet is to find somebody parting one out and clean house.

I have a complete kit with all the wiring and brackets, including the brake switch for sale if your interested. I would take $75 plus the shipping. This is a Saturday afternoon job and that includes some pops and hangin with some buds.
Thanks

Now that is a good deal! With the complete stuff for that kind of price I would do the upgrade in a heartbeat.

I just went out to check and I am missing the turn signal lever:rolleyes: I sold it with the steering colum. I am in Canada so the shipping will be a little more:mad: Here is a pic of what I have.

You will also need the harness that goes from the harness in the picture to the cruise control module and the cruise control module to complete the install.

Hey thanks, I do have the module but its not in the pic. I thought the harness from the module was part of the interior dash harness. I don't have it separately.

Yeah the other harness is a short one that plugs into the black connector and then into the module. Because the module is a PCB its a mandatory item but at least you had the other hard to find stuff ;)

Now that I think about it, I would bet money you can get the other harness from any of the mid 80s cars with factory cruise. Even if they didn't mate directly to the black plug you could splice that but I think the PCB connector is the same.
