Hey, I have a 86-87 GN turbo that I'm putting on a Camaro. As for the oil feed / drain:

What thread size is the inlet?

Does the return line have to gravity drain, or can I run upwards into a valve cover or something. I don't want to drill the oil pan nor get a scavenge pump.

How are stock GNs setup for oil feed/return?

Thanks

Not sure about the feed line, I *think* it's 1/4" tube to a 1/4" NPT fitting... As you've surmised it's a gravity system and the drain point MUST be lower than the turbo outlet. Some people tap a fitting into the oil pan instead of drilling and tapping the block. The drain line appears to be 1/2 diameter or larger and attachs to the turbo with a small two-bolt flange.

Feed line is 1/8" NPT into the turbo, line itself is 1/4" tube flared into a right angle flare adapter to the NPT threads.

Gravity for the drain line as mentioned.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm just gonna have to drill my oil pan and hope I don't get any shavings in it...

put plenty of grease on the tap and the drill bit to hold metal filings when you do oil pan..just did it to my mustang. from what i gathered on the turbo mustang sites you should use biggest drainback you can because you dont want a lot of oil or oil pressure hangin inside the turbo . i used 3/8 npt to 5/8 barbed fittings on oil pan. then i bought drainback flanges off e-bay that excepted 1/2 npt with a 5/8 barbed end. i used 3/16 brake line for feed..but dont go by me i havent run mine yet:) i used 5/8 drainback hose from a turbo website. when i punched the oil pan i did it like when you install a vortech. drill a 1/8 hole. then use a tapered punch and bang it through and try to roll the edges in so you have lots of material to tap.
