With Gasoline at $3.50/gallon, my family will spend about $10/Day on Gasoline this year.

Even in a city with a great public transportation system, an all day bus/subway pass costs $5/person and you'll waste 2 hours of your day waiting for a bus/train and walking to places the bus or subway doesn't go.

So that's the same $10/day plus 4 hours of time lost per family/per day.

With this in mind $3.50/ gallon gas sucks, but is still pretty cheap relative to a cup of coffee at starbucks or a beer at a bar.

First its a war for oil, now because of the war it we have no oil. Dems can't make up their mind. I think they're now wishing it was a war for oil.

More oil is coming out Iraq now than before the war. I'm not seeing your lame point.

Proof? (catch: It has to be form a nonbiased source - i.e. no fox news, or free republic or someone other bullsh!t.)

3 gallons a day? Does this equate to two vehicles or just one? Is this everyday or just the weekdays? $300 a month doesn't sound bad to me. Even if it goes to $4/gal is $50/month going to wreck the budget? Might have to cut out the Starbucks or something:biggrin:

AMEN brother! I have been seriously thinking of doing just what you said!

I hereby invite you to TEXAS. We are doing quite well here. In fact anyone looking for work should look into it.

The republican party is SO LUCKY to have people like you guys that are not only not willing to look into these issues, but actually forcefully refuse to look at them.

Saddam was selling Iraqi oil.
+
Now Hunt oil is selling Iraqi oil.
+
GWB needs a presidential library.
+
Hunt oil is donating 35 million dollars to Bush library

= War for profit and personal gain.

So Gas is $3.00/gallon because Bush wanted a Presidential Library?

You have it all figured out.

That's 6 vehicles averaged out. My 32 mpg crapbox I drive to work and my wife's 22 mpg Diesel SUV she drives account for about 1/2 of the $10. We have a Yukon XL and Diesel Ram we only drive when we need and fill up once a month max.

My TTA and GN have a 6 month supply in their tanks at the rate I drive them. I have a set of 2.7:1 gears I'm going to put in the TTA (mostly for the 1/2 mile drag races we run) and if I can get a consistant 25 mpg out of it, I'll park my crap box.

Ditto. In my Neighborhood of 65 houses, I think My wife and maybe 5 other people are actual Texans. Everyone else has moved to Texas in the last 7 years (I've moved here in '89 so I'm an old timer)

Sounds like to me with six vehicles the price of gas is pretty low on your agenda. I know it is pretty low on mine. We have two Suburbans(#1 wife's DD 454/4L80e gets 13 around town, #2 My DD 350/4L60e gets 17 or so). I'm more concerned with the Housing bubble and its affect on the economy in general.

Sounds like you are going into either Dallas or Ft Worth. Her going 33 miles and you going 48 if divided equally. I found moving closer to my place of employment gained me more time and less money spent on fuel. Though we still spend $150-200/month on gas.

I think more should actually do the math on their actual expenditure and there would be less actual concern over the price of a gallon of gas/diesel. The media just finds it to be an easy target to report on with little actual research. This just whips the general public into a frenzy over something that is of minor concern. How about some actual investigative reporting. Maybe uncover some fraud or something.
