My drain plug (the nut) has no more threads of it. I need a new one, it will screw in a little, but will not be 100% tight, so it drips a little bit of oil.

Where can i find a new oil pan drain plug? Do our motors take any special threaded plug? Or can i go down the the local oreillys and pick one up?

Thank you!

-Adam

I dont know what size but try to find a magnetic one if you can.

I have one but got it off ebay about 2 years ago.

1/2 -20
you can get the magnetic plug off the shelf at advance

The help section or near it on a rack at Pep Boys has various types of replacement drain plugs for cars.

Some have new cutting threads and some have sealing washers etc.

Some are stock replacement.

I'd take what you have now there and take a look.

Or perhaps someone knows exactly what the threads are?

The replacements will usually say GM oil pan but may not be specific as to year and all.

A magnet type is a good one also.

It'd probably be a good idea to CAREFULLY run a tap through the pan once you figure out the correct thread size.

Thank you everyone. I called Oreillys today and they told me the same size what you guys have.

Thanks!
