For the headers I went with mild steel, I could not justify the 400 dollar price difference between mild steel and stainless, I could find a better place to put that money! The car has a large external oil and trans cooler in front of the radiator so im hoping thatll help, im thinking that was the old owners way of trying to combat the heat from the headers! The old owner really did a poor job af puting this car together, really hacked up, and totally dangerous as far as wiring goes, Lucky it did not burn! Im excited to drive this car!!

once you get the new headers let us know how the temps are. I would like to know if they go down and how close they are to the pan.

Fire Hazard

Well it sounds like your doing a thorough job going thru it and cleaning up some of his work. It'll feel that much better once you have her running hard and knowing you cleaned her up and dialed her in and put her on that straight path;)

one thing you might want to look into is just because there is a deep pan put on there doesnt mean that the pickup was extend as well. you might want to pull the pan and take a look.

Yeah, Mahir fire hazard

Ill throw up a picture of the wiring i pulled out from under the dash, all for the aftermarket gauges, trunk mounted battery with taped connections between cables under the hood, The fusible links at the starter were melted to the header, all the wiring for the double pumper was solid copper and all the underhood connections were done with wire nuts! Lol, The car has a near perfect body with no rust ever and a very clean interior. with a pile of nice parts, just a really bad job on assembly...
