Just want to get an idea of what you guys run in your TB.

If you want to post a reason why & oil weight that would be cool too.

Mobil 1 full synthetic 10 W 30, with a bottle of Lucas oil zinc plus oil additive.

Mike B.

Castrol synthetic (used to use Mobil 1 before the "reformulation") in the WE4 which needs it for the DBB turbo.

Conventional SH or SG or SJ oil in the GN.

Gotta change those poll choices. :p

Just won some Kirbans ZDDP gonna use that with Mobil 1 next time in the WE4.

Valvoline Race Oil non street legal. 10/30, 20/50 depending on the weather.

I've been running Mobil 1 full synthetic 10 W 30 since the first day I purchased my '87 in '91.

I just recently hit 180k miles.

I run an AC Delco PF52 oil filter, as well.

If you don't want to gamble with wear issues and you are using any current store bought oil that has the SM starburst on the back you need I repeat you need to add one bottle of zddplus....

Look at the label on your sun visor it states use a QUALITY SF OIL....

Oil as each new category came out was supposed to be backwards compatible....that is now not the case now because of emissions etc and the fact cataltic converters have a 100,000 plus warranty. Also supposedily rolelr set ups don't need that much dosage....(Not the case in performance roller set ups they do need zddp as it slows down the scuffing etc....)

wear happens gradually reason many of you are not aware of the damage that is occuring. If it was not the case companies like Erson, Crower, Isky to name just 3 cam companies all of which any of you have heard of would not buy our product.

I even have actual proof that it significantly reduces cam lobe wear in roller set ups from a engine builder that builder 1,000 hp engines.

I also know for a fact Dove, who is the largest manufactuer of aluminum roller rocker arms in the US used our product in the ford engine they built for the engine masters contest and had no issues and they recommend the product for flat tappets.

Lucas does not have levels of the ppm we have....our product brings it up to about 1,800 ppm. sm oil only has by law about 800 ppm......also is Lucas putting up six grand at the GS Nats year? I doubt it.

You could not improve on what we have in 4 ounces unless it was cheaper than $10 a bottle......period.....treats a normal 4-6 quart engine.

I know I will get a debate on this but unless you tear down your engine using striaght sm oil you got no proof that you are right and we are wrong. Remember in our bottle their is nothing I repeat nothing that was not in the oil oiginally back in 1988 so its impossible to have a ill effect....period.

Consider this fact: The person with the company behind it owns the largest turbo buick collection in the world....if it did not affect his cars which are no different than your cars.....he would not have gotten into the business of making the product....he is not in the automotive business. My connection is our company is one of just two that are in at the ground floor.

Your next question is going to be why is it not in stores? It is very tough to get a new product into stores with no background with retail stores. Member Alexander Bell when he made the telephone....took awhile to sell a few....

We took the marketing to the major mail order companies first and we have done quite well in that area. We sell to some of the largest in their fields Eastwood, Moss Motors, 4 cam companies direct, several major engine warehouses that sell to engine builders.....plus you don't get someone like Don Garlits.....to represent your product unless he believes in your product. Its not like the guy needs the money....he holds more records than anyone in drag racing.....and is a hands on type of guy. Heck he is letting us set up at his Museum in Ocala this NOvember for his big Mopar event.

The fact the product comes from a Buick source to start with should be convincing enough but if you send me a pm denniskiriban@yahoo.com I wil gladly send you by mail proof of our claims.....

Names like Crower and Isky cams....they went with our product based on facts, heck they never heard of me or the company behind ZDDPlus.....

By the way the year before Dove wasted a cam at the engine masters challenge and last year they didn't.....

the critical thing is not what oil to use other than weight required, its what amount of zddp you need to equal what was in the oil back when your car was new.....under the SF category.....

This is the same exact product that the GS club sells even though in their newsletter they are not calling it by its proper name. ZDDPlus.....is the trademarked name. It is also registered in Europe as we have a distributor in England as well.

castrol gtx 10w30 always, use to only use ac filters(they are bad now, so don't use them). car has 147,000 on speedo- but in reality has 200,000 miles. and had sat for 11 years, been running good since last year, un-opened motor. now i do add the zddp. i may try the blend, i've always used valvoline blend in my truck and now have 135,000 on it.

Good thing adding zddplus as Castrol was one of the very first oil companies to actually post on their website under ask the experts about the oil issues...they basically said in part the current oil i not backward compatible and basically due to government/emissions requirements.

We have the exact quote at work that they posted. Its kind of like remember when doctors said smoking was good for you?

Or member this line your bank would tell you....We never make mistakes........

Mobil One 15w50..... Solid roller cam plus I want some film strength at 6500rpm:biggrin: I wish mobil one would show their PPM levels on zinc and stuff on their website. I had thought about using their 5w40 tubo diesel oil but I am not sure. I had always been curious about the ZDDPlus with a roller cam setup....sounds like it helps.

Original poll did not ask about additives, I will get the ZDDP when I use up my supply of EOS.

if the mobil one you are using has SM in the star burst I can tell you it only has 800 ppm and you should have 1,500 or better.....roller set ups need zddplus.....no oil company with the sm label can have over 800 ppm and when the next category comes out it will probably be even less.....

don't gamble results are not worth the gamble.

If you want pm me I can provide proof that it will hep prevent scuffing in roller set ups etc....

Ive used Mobil-1 10w30 full synthetic in my GN since the day I bought it two years ago. The previous owner used it so I saw no reason to change. Plus everyone says I cant anyway.

This most recent oil change I used my first bottle of ZDDP. Before that I ran 5 quarts of straight Mobil-1, and a PF-52 filter. Never had any problems.

I may switch to Mobil Delvac 15w40 if I can find it in quarts locally. Anyone absolutely sure is full synthetic? Noone around here seems to know for sure.

When i had my GN I used Castrol full synthetic and now i run the Purple stuff in my Cobra.

zddplus mixes with either conventional or synthetic oil does not matter which you use add zddplus if the star burst on the back says SM....what is nice about zddplus is it allows owner to use whatever oil they have always used rather than seeking out something special....
