ok ive been chasing low oil for awhile now and tonite i decided to try heavier oil.
so 4 litres of 20-50 and 2 litres of 10-30 oil was cold 60 psi
hot about 20 at idle and at 193 15 psi idle again 650 range.
and 30 psi at 3000 rpm
am i gonna wreck something running with this heavy of an oil ??

In the winter your oil filter may end up in Michigan. ;)

I only get about 30psi. in my GN at 2600 rpm hot, and it bothers me.

Idle is 10-12 lbs. hot oil.

I probably won't race the car again until I figure out if it needs a rebuild.

Only 120K on it but I bought it used so who knows what's inside there.

I use a mix of oil and only drive that car in the summer anyway.

One quart 20/50 or straight 50 racing and three quarts 10/40 and two quarts of 10/30. Valvoline conventional oil.

I can't see why you would have a problem running that oil unless driving in 30 degree and under weather, then I'd start watching the gauge on startup.

What is important is to notice how the gauge reacts to throttle. The pressure should react almost like a tach

thanks it wont be winter driven no worries there.
im just concerned with the bottom end bearings and such,.

it does go up with rpm though not as quickly but it does rise..

Sounds like you should pull your pan. Sounds like worn bearings. Pretty easy to replace in the car. Save yourself an engine overhaul and check it out.

30lbs at 3000 rpm is definitely.........wrong!
