I have great pressure when driving. When I come to a stop the pressure drops to 15-20 psi and once died in the driveway when I pulled up. Any ideas? Is my oil pump dying?? Thanks

That's right about what my engine runs for oil pressure too. I run Rotella-T 15/40 with ZDDP additive. I wouldn't sweat it.

Hot WOT 50 PSI

Hot idle 10-12 PSI

I wish I had that kind of oil pressure. :) I'm about 10psi hot idle.

Low oil pressure would not cause your car to "die" in the sense that you are describing it (i.e.-stalling). If your car cut off because of low oil pressure, your car would not be dying, it would be dead.

Remember, even the factory idiot light on the dash won't come on until pressure is less than 5psi or so. I'd say your fine and you may need to look elsewhere, such as your ignition module/coil pack if your car is stalling out.

The norm on a stock engine is 10-15 HOT. I put on a Hi volume cover, and did a few tricks to my pickup tube, and it idle about 30 HOT.
