Oil Pressure ???

Ok i have noticed some strange things with my oil pressure on my gauge and i think it is due to the temperature of the oil or possibly the gauge. Well anyhow the car stays @ 10psi idle normally, when the car is hot and on the freeway it always reads more the 10psi per 1k RPM....ok so heres the question, after making a long trip and sitting in traffic i noticed i had 3-5 psi of oil pressure at idle, after a few minutes in TRAFFIC it went back to 10, was the oil THINNING out due to improper cooling ?? I have a cooler in the radiator...i am a little puzzled and my coolant temps on the gauge NEVER went about 180 and usually sit @ 170 in HOT WEATHER, on the scanmaster they never go above 170

What wieght oil? 3-5 is low but I've seen engines last anyhow, 10#/1000rpm is the most important thing!

10w30, it usually stay @ 10 psi at idle, sometimes it goes lower but it only happens when going from high speeds to idle, then it will be really low and gradually go back up....

The oil could just be hot from the higher speeds, then when it idles for a few minutes, it cools back down and gets a little thicker, sorta. That's pretty normal. I know, the water temp doesn't show it, and it probably won't unless the oil gets really. You can always run 10-40 in the hot weather. That'll help somewhat. You can always get an aftermarket Oil cooler, provided the tubing and fitting sizes are large enough. Also, you could pay less attention to the oil pressure gauge. I know, I'd have problems doing that too.
