oil pump drainback

What would cause lack of oil prime for a second or two when first started if has sat for hour or more? I do have by-pass plugged. Could it just be bad anti-drainback valve in filter or something with pump or pump gasket. Thanks, Bob.

Replace the filter first. Then check the the pump pickup gasket.

Sounds stupid but always blow in the filter to test it. You will find 1-25 that dont hold the air! Change your filter first!

mine does it every time i let it sit 4 a couple days. i tried every filter out there

Just a guess here...but if the pickup arm is not tight to the block that could cause the prime loss?

Get a K&N oil filter, they do not have an internal bypass.
