never done an external one before. Any tips? I know I have to prime it. Anyone care to share the full procedure with me?

Thanks in advance

Why is it being replaced are you in a rebuild process? Or are you just wanting to up your pressure. If the pump has failed, then you need to do more than replace the gears. If you want to up your pressure, then a booster plate may be the best choice.
Replacing The pump is not really what you will be doing. It is more like checking everything for the proper clearances. If the depth and diameter of the pocket on the front cover is not within specs then you will be looking for a new front cover. You will also have to check other clearances too like gear length, diameter, side clearance, and end clearance to the cover. these all contribute to a proper oiling system. It all depends on what the specific problem is that you want to fix.
Really need some more info to be able to help you out.

I've been having low oil pressure. Once it gets warm, it will drop to about 10psi at idle. Normal driving is fine....but idle is kinda scary. I decided it was either the oil pump or the cam bearings. I know I shouldn't guess and throw parts at it, but I wanted to see if this would fix the problem a little.

I bought this car with 121k miles and TONS of problems due to negligence. I just now have it running correctly and was hoping the a new oil pump would fix the pressure problem.

That psi is about right, and the pump is probably fine. If you want to improve it, simply add a booster plate.

I just realized that on gnttype.org

Guess I'll spend tomorrow doing other things (Walbro 307 and hotwire)
