oil smoke on throttle release??

I bought a 49 from PTE 350 miles later smoking like crazy...exhaust seal.....they told me I needed this and needed that...What I did was have John Craig rebuild it...No more problems

would you by any chance want to sell the turbo? i need a turbo that i can have rebuilt to put on my car.

PTE rebuilt mine 3 times and always had the same exhaust side oil leak very shortly afterwards.They kept trying to upsell me on different parts to prevent it from happening again.Each time they charged me for the rebuild cause "something must have went thru the turbo".I finally got wise and sent it to John Craig and no more problems...he didn't even know who I had been sending it to but told me the wrong parts had been put in it!!

I'm not sure how what you said benefits anybody, but I'd like to learn more about the problem you had for my benefit so this doesn't happen with other customers. John Craig is a close friend of ours and I am glad he could help you if we could not. I will be in tomorrow on Friday (11/1) and then gone all of next week at SEMA.

update

shipping the turbo off to PTE today and they should get it on Monday or so.
