HI, I had resurfaced the decks of my block when I had rebuilt my shortblock. I covered everthing in motor oil and "Pickled" it in a engine plastic bag with the deck side down on an engine stand. Jump to now(three years later) I am going to put the heads on. I go to wipe off the oil and I see it has coagulated on the deck surface and some of it has kind of turned to a thicker molasses substance. When I wipe it off with carb spray it comes right off but leaves a bad stain. It doesn't feel etched when I run my fingernail over it, but I am using RJC gaskets and I am afraid it will hinder the way the silicone he supply's to roll on to the head gaskets. Any ever see this before? Any suggestions? Thanks turbo6man

Laquer thinner & Scotchbrite pads should clean it up. Brake clean dries fast but isnt the best "cleaner" out there, especially compared to Laquer Thinner!
If that doesnt work I'd be surprised?
