I went back out to drive the car a little and try to figure out what's going on with it, now there is no second gear at all.
It shifts VERY softly into 2nd, and from there will just rev, and when I let off, it shifts into 3rd. Once in 3rd, it holds boost and pulls just fine. Everything seems normal, other than lack of 2nd gear.
Anyone?
Trans is damn near new(4,000 miles), all the good parts were used(so I'm told by former owner, I just got the damn car less than a month ago...)
Thanks for any input,
Jon

Nasty one....wounded it is...

Band, servo pin, band anchor hole blown out, band anchor broken. All of the above is ...well....screwed. It is coming out. Band and drum will be toast. DO NOT keep driving.

I just read your other post and I could have told you it was coming. See band was on verge of holding and it takes more holding power and stress on a 3-2 hard downshift as band is designed to grip drum from one direction.
It has to stop drum from opposite direction than designed on downshift. Reaso for flair on upshift is band was barely holding and releases faster then direct clutch can come on. And I bet you find direct clutch striped or wounded too. Here is an excerpt on how to make it better from "Strengthening The 2004r" . Good luck...WE4

BANDS AND RELATED:
We have tried and tested all kinds of bands. The Raybestos Pro Series had the best lining but when pressures started going up, anchors started coming off. The Banco Reline worked very well with a stock design base and red lining. Nothing special done to anchor but only broke one. Borg 210's gave me the best luck but every 15-20 or so one would fail. Anchor most of the time. Then Alto came up with an extra wide band done very nicely and anchor problem is solved. The Alto Red Eagle band (Red,.. no Kevlar) We beat this thing up and not one failure to date!!!
I think Alto hit a home run with this band!!!
As of now,the 300m anchor pin can be purchased with the band.
Recommended in all rebuilds.

BAND ANCHOR PIN:
Again, many have broken and many have not. Available now are 300M material pins, that are .002 larger in the case bore (to take up the slack from stock pin walking) and .004 larger on nipple that actually snaps into the band. They are longer so they can be each custom fit to your case. (Cases are not all perfect and do wear.) Unbreakable.
For the dollar..... install every time at any power level. Cheap insurance.

Any idea(guesstimate is all I'm looking for) as to what this'll cost to fix Bruce?
Thanks for the input...
Jon
