Olds and Buick ECM compatibility

I have a 88 Buick Electra/Park Ave and a 88 Olds Cutlas Cierra. Both have the 3.8L V-6. Are the ECM units compatible? And where are they?

if they have the same 3.8 by vin they are the same. But double check SERVICE NUMBER on computer. They are located behind glove box a little under neath.

you wont find in anything other than a 86-7 turbo regal or an 86 FWd (buick, olds) with the 3.8

No. They are different. They are located behind the glovebox. As mentioned only 86' FWD cars or 86-87 turbo cars.

I have a 88 Buick Electra/Park Ave and a 88 Olds Cutlas Cierra. Both have the 3.8L V-6. Are the ECM units compatible? And where are they?

As far as the Ciera,remove the 7mm bolts that hold the glovebox liner. Pull the liner out. Best to remove the bolt for the door strap first.

The ECM is held in by 2 10mm nuts that can be had with a small wrench and some patience. You just need to loosen them. The sticker with the number on it faces the firewall.

The Park Ave ECM is more under the glovebox than behind it. Accessed thru the lower pass side of the dash. It is bolted to the body by the door hinges. Only one bolt holds it in.
