Well ever since i have owned a GN (since 1999) and started moding it I have had nothing but issues and some real bad luck. My First GN was sweet and I had everything going great then I ran into serious trans problems....finally got the trans right and got a fresh paint job on the car....then about a month later some idiot runs a light and hits a car into my lane and I had a head on at 60:eek: Car is totaled.

My next GN was very sweet 70k mile car...I got some money from the last wreck so I went crazy with the mods and started fighting a bunch of little gremlins and two flat cam issues. I Finally took it to my buddies shop to have it dyno tuned....well to much for a stock bottom end...stretched a rod bolt and that was it for that engine. Built the engine again and a few months later I got hit by a kid in an F-250 that fell asleep at the wheel:(

peopl thought I was crazy but I bought another GN and I bought the salvage from the wreck. I was able to get my drive train and some suspension. I bought an 82k car but the engine was out....I just did a replacement. This was last year...after I got it running a few months later the cam went flat:mad: I just rebuilt that engine 3 weeks ago and I went to a roller cam set up. The car has been running since New years

This is the first time I have had this car and nothing major has gone wrong with the engine or anything (knock on wood) I have the boost real low 11psi and just that little bit the car will not stay planted on the 275 Drag radials:biggrin

I am so happy with this car right now I just had to share:biggrin:

You'ld better get a rabbit's foot too.;)
3 flat cams? I'd go to a roller after that too.
Good luck, hope this time you get to enjoy your car for a long time.

Did you buy that last one without the motor from Grumpy by chance? I remember he was selling a GN w/T-Tops, 82k but no motor/trans. But he may have cut it up.

lol...NO DOUBT!

Thanks I think I hit the right combo this time and the engine sounds real good, I have heard a lot of guys say how noisy the rollers are. I really took my time when building and measured everything twice. The engine is nice and quite and flat out pulls like a beyatch!

I have some tuning to do before I turn up the boost but man oh man at 11psi it feels really good. I just posted a thread in the engine section about going roller to guys thinking about it.

I raced my buddy's SRT8 jeep last week...it runs12.60 @106 and I thoguht he would walk on me since I was only at 11psi.....He didn't I actually pulled him at the top of 2nd.

Like I said some friends think I am crazy to have endured what I have with these cars but I love TR and I am a stubborn SOB!

No I actually bought the car about 4 years ago and it sat for a while before I could do anything with it. It is a low mile car but it was in Mississippi for a while and it has some rust I have to deal with but I dont mind the work.

Nice to hear someone happy with their GN, see a bunch of guys coming on here saying how much they hate it, how they want to sell it, how its been nothing but trouble & so on... Also glad to hear you were in a large car in those accidents:eek:

Thanks!

I sure have had my fill with these cars they can really beat you up at times but I will admit that most of the issues were brought on by me when I started to mod it and I did not have a lot of knowledge about them. I also took advice from guys that thought they knew these cars and did not. i found it best to learn and do it your self and if you are not capable then find a good TR guy.

No doubt this car saved my life twice! the first wreck I had that 60mph direct head on with no seat belt...I folded the steering wheel in half and I actually have a pic of the dash where my nose left a perfect dent( broke my nose of course) The car did exactly what is was designed for the front of the car was about 2feet long and it folded up just like it was supposed to....the frame was on the ground just in front of the doors:(

No doubt the car absorbed most of the impact and I am still here:biggrin:

Same goes with the second wreck...I got hit by a big a$$ truck and the car took the sacrifice for me....I hate it but at least I am still here.

The way I look at it is I am insuring the value stays high on our cars cause I am responsible for taking 2 off the road....lmao
