Maybe he has a kill switch and is saving some idiot from cracking open his steering column.

My friend was at an autopart place with his Typhoon, he look outside and in about 30 second the theif pop his door lock, cracked open his column all with a screw driver. By the time he realized what was happening, he couldn't run out fast enough to catch the theif. The theif would have stolen his truck except it didn't start right away (It had a hot starter click and he needed to replace the starter wire)

sounds like your friend may NEVER want to replace that starter wire lol! He got lucky! If they can't do it when I come I leave, period. I do NOT leave my T with anyone. If they don't do something stupid like this then they will be out hammering it when your not around. Let me think on that ummmmm NO!!!!!

Wow some people just don't think before they act.

Never underestimate the power of supidity!

Back in 1989 I bought a demo 89 Lincoln Mark VII LSC from Hollywood Lincoln/Mercury in Hollywood, Florida and thay said come back tomorrow to pick it up we want to detail it. I went back the next morning and they could not find it. They stall me for over an hour with excuse after excuse. I'm starting to get kinda tweaked when a flatbed wrecker comes pulling in with my car on it and a state trooper behind him. The whole right side is gone from the headlight to the tail light. It seems the detail guy left the keys in it unlocked and some kids took it for a joyride. They sideswiped an overpass abutment while being persued on the sawgrass expressway, survived and were caught.

The funniest part of the story is we are all standing in the showroom full of people and the sales manager says don't worry we will have it fixed in less than a week and you can drive my LSC while you wait. The trooper and I burst out laughing and I say just give me my money back, I'm outta here. He says well technically you own the car so we don't have too. Now back then I had been power lifting for 12 years and was 240 lbs at 6'1" and could easily pick up a human being. So I grab this guy by the shirt pull him right to my face and say give me my money back or call 911. The trooper just says to the sales manager "I think he is serious (meaning me) and you might want to reconsider your options". He then tells me to consider my options before I make him a witness to an assault and he really does not want to have to wrestle me off this guy. I let the guy go but someone else had already called the dealership's owner who had an office upstairs and was walking up to us.

He asked the trooper what was going on and would we please all join him in his office off the sales floor. In his office he listens to all of us and asks everyone else to leave just him and me alone for a few minutes. He says "I will refund your money or you can pick any one of the new 1990 LSC's that just came in and are sitting out back, take my golf cart and go look". I say "I'm not spending $34K-$36K for a car so give me my $23K back". He says "you've been here for two hours what is a few more minutes". I go look and find a gun metal grey special edition that was custom ordered with every conceivable option including custom leather seats for $37K+ and go back with the number off the window sticker. He says "you would pick that one" and then he says I can have it for what I paid for the demo 89 if I want it.

Great guy!

He calls down to the service manager and says stop what you are doing and get the car ready for a customer right now, I drove it off the lot 60 minutes later.

True story, dad and I bought four more cars from him over the years.

Nice story.

But I can't recall how many times I've seen people walk into a convience store and leave thier keys in their car, on purpose, as if "nobody's gonna steal it".

Half that many even left the engine running while going in for a quick stop.

I've never been in trouble with the law, but I tell you, at 15 years old them I almost consider jumping in one of those vehicles and taking off for a joyride "just because I could have".

Good thing I didn't, but I wished someone would have.....just to teach people a lesson in security.

Oh yeah, and this was in the 1990's, mind you.

The sad thing here is that if the keys are in it and door unlocked it might just say DRUG DEALER they do that thing.

When I was young I used to work for an upscale store loading will call stuff for people who could not carry it out. Just about everyone left their cars running outside in the parking lot while they came in with their claim check. really nice expensive cars I could never afford. Man, I thought about going for a joyride a few times.
