Why are you trying to change?
I belief that the "single wire alternators", in general, have a lower output.
Usually about 90A max, and have a "Single V-Belt pulley".
Not really an answer, but at least this will get you TTT'd  and one of the experts will chime in.

yes, you can

Buy a single wire 140 amp. from Jegs or Summit--I had a local rebuilder build one for me with an adj. reg. Runs @ 14.8 volts all the time. I believe the one wire is activated once the eng. sees 2000 RPM. No conversion kit needed. Me of little mind --definately not an expert.

Search, powermastermotorsports. You'll find lots of information there. I'm running one of their 150 amp single wire Denso units with a reduction pulley. It's setup with a special low rpm output capacity. No problem with output at idle. They sell an adapter to connect up to the single wire.

(Grabbing REAL hard and reaching REAL DEEP to pull BIG foot out of mouth)
Was still thinking HA ...... limited choices for single wire that are high Amp plug and play. (??)

I use the 200A stock type non 1 wire alternator with a charging wire(key on 12v) disconnect at the rear of the car. This is a great way to get the job done and no HOT wires in the car when the disconnect is turned off.
