This past Friday, Saturday and Sunday was the reopening of 75 & 80 Dragway after being closed for nearly 4 years. Track is open under original owner but new management. All new asphalt to the 1/8 and concrete after that w/new concrete jersey wall the length of the track. Surface was pretty good considering it was new...they were getting some good rubber down and prepping though out the day when we were there Saturday...should be a nice track when they get everything taken care of.

Now for the not so good...

This was only the 2nd time I have run my car since I purchased it 4 years ago...the last time was just be for 75 & 80 closed and my car was stock w/bad valve springs and ignition wires...14.00 at 90 couple mph...car was breaking up going down the track. Planned on ruining it last Fall at Cecil but as many of you know I lost a fuel pump on my way to the track. Well Saturday was real sunny and decent temps but very windy so at 1st they were only running 1/8 mile passes. Also I might add they were using a Pro Tree...well didn't tell us before running so you can imagine the confusion at the light...it was ugly. I have no "f"ing clue how to use a Pro Tree:mad: So not one single pass did I get off the line with pretty much any boost to speek of...looked like a real turd coming off the line but soon as it spooled it took off...still not so good for ET's

I was running about 23-24psi w/alcohol (see sig)

My 1st run 1/8...
reaction: 1.087
60ft: 2.165
330ft: 5.499
mph: 92.21
660ft: 8.174

*~3-4 deg knock on Scanmaster turned up the alcohol a little.

2nd run 1/4...
reaction: 1.203
60ft: 2.066
330ft: 5.354
mph1: 91.92
660ft: 8.032
990: 10.350
mph2: 113.85
1320: 12.323

*no knock

3rd run 1/4...
reaction: 1.562
60ft: 2.182
330ft: 5.284
mph1: 92.73
660ft: 8.160
990: 10.462
mph2: 113.90
1320: 12.430

*very rough burnout...shook a good bit...did not see knock during the pass but Scanmaster said 19.6 deg knock on th recall...not sure what was going on?

This is where I should have stopped for the day...was in line and almost got out

4th run 1/4...
reaction: 1.033
60ft: 2.142
330ft: 5.417
mph1: 92.54
660ft: 8.079
990: 10.384
mph2: 113.63
1320: 12.356

*did not see any knock but right after going throught the traps out comes the smoke and lots of it...idleing eratic...coasted into the pits and shut it off. Scanmaster showed 0.7 deg. knock on the recall. Looked it over nothing leaking anywhere, oil looks good, antifreeze looks fine. Let it cool off a little and started it back up...at 1st it sounded fine but after a few seconds the idle became choppy and white smoke started coming out the exhaust and out both valve cover breathers. Eventually found somebody with a trailer and got it home...haven't opened it up yet but the oil and anti-freeze still look fine.

It seems I have now entered the blown head gasket club :(

On a side note if I could have learned how to launch/60ft the car I think I could have had some impressive runs based on my mph. When she spooled it really took off...a lot of guys at the track were shocked at how fast it took off. I was temped to try the trans brake but wanted to get comfortable with it 1st and I definitely was not ready for that just yet.

A couple pic's and some video's my son took...

Burnout Video

No boost off the line Video oh and I did catch the Mustang down the track for the win

Your tune must be off..A GT6776 should trap a lot more than 113.

I trap 121 at 23 psi on a 61.

I'm still on stock heads, cam and DP elbow...lots of restrictions there. A couple of guys told me that if I could build some boost at the line and get a decent 60ft I should be 11.70's maybe a little better and also pick up a couple mph maybe 117 or so ? Your probably right though my tune could certainly be off. Live and learn...the hard way

here you go..practice,practice,practice...:D
RB Racing's .400 Pro Tree

pretty cool...but my problem was I never knew when to start spooling. The light seemed different every time...I would stand on the brake and start spooling and then the light wouldn't go, I let off because I don't want to heat up the trans and then the light goes  I can say I was consistent at sucking that's for sure. I do think they were having problems as well because it just didn't seem like was working correctly...then again it could have just been me sucking too
