Hey, I was looking at the Postons direct replacement 3" DP to allow my TA-49 to breath a little better. My combo is in the signature. I have a ported stock elbow, but am still running the stock down pipe to a Hooker Supercomp exhaust. As far as my setup goes, I believe the DP is the most restriction. Anyone have any opinions on this product? What was your experience in performance gains (or not)? How did you install? Fit, remove and weld?

Thanks.

Come on, surely someone has an opinion on this product based on experience??

I'm not a fan of the Poston's DP- I prefer a DP that gets rid of the stock elbow for better breathability; also, getting rid of the stock elbow gives you 1 less place to leak from.

That's the problem I had. First downpipe I ever bought was a Postons....I'm guesing they are selling one a bit different now, this was like 7 years ago. Couldn't get the thing not to leak, and ended up givig it away to somebody and bought my Mease downpipe.

I went ahead an ordered one. I have no clue why, but I have it in the my head that I want to retain somewhat of a stock look.

Can't agree wih you, especially after looking at that Malibu in your sig! Not a question of "if"- but When you decide to upgrade, you will find that the stock elbow becomes a critical bottleneck, and you'll probably end up with a TH or similar dp.

Thing is, except for us TR fanatics, most people are clueless about the stock equipment. I'd go for the dp that will give you the best performance, and put the stock stuff away for restoration.

(shameless plug) I happen to have 3" THDP available.... (end shameless plug)

I had originally planned on going, but was swindled into going to Hot August Nights with the family instead. And, yes, you're correct. I seem to start out with the best of intentions, but in the end chase the HP. But you'll notice I did say "I have no clue why" I went ahead and ordered.

C'mon, Sean, come up for the Saturday festivities. It's only a 4-5 hour drive up here....think of it as a shakedown trip to Reno......

Or a VERY LONG trip to Home Depot!;)
