HELP!!the delete function has crashed. I am attempting to clean out the "sent mess" folder. I tried the "cont/a/delete" setup.. too much data.. locked up.
Now, even after reboot, the "delete" function is inop, regardless of how I try to do it. Mouse, keyboard, rt clik/mouse, etc.
I've tried the delete function in the inbox, deleted items, sent items, and several other folders with "junk" in them.
This has been tried on 1 item, to 20 items... same results.. nothing!
Once I had found the system locked up, I cleared out, and restarted the delete process, doing only a few at a time.. Seemed to be working, but I now see that that process didn't work, either. All the deleted files are showing up again!
I even tried to drag them to the deleted folder.. Get an error: Cannot move this file.

Maybe someone can "enlighten" me?? [Short of shooting the keyboard operator!!]:D :D

If you're trying unsuccessfully to delete all of the messages in a folder you can go onto the hard drive and delete the actual file associated with the folder. Your folders will end with .dbx on the hard drive. There will be a 'deleted items.dbx' as well as 'whatever-you-named-your-folder.dbx' files. If you delete them from the hard drive then Outlook Express, not being able to find the original file, should create a new, empty folder when you open the program up. If you're worried about deleting the file, just rename it on the hard drive so Outlook Express can't find it - it will do the same thing. If you need to re-map the 'bad' file to the folder, just re-name it as the file name that Outlook Express is looking for (you can check the path for each folder by right clicking on it and selecting properties).
