outside window/door seals -- new,dont fit !

Got some new outside window/door seals (orig G.M.) ,but they dont fit flush with the outside door trim,they have a small piece of rubber with metal inside that runs the entire width of the seal that causes the seal to not fit flush with the door /trim area,these are G.M. parts,I got them off ot E-bay,I ckd my local G.M. dealer and he says they are correct part numbers,but ,no longer avail---anybody else run into this problem before ?? I`m just looking for an answer to this before I go hacking up my new outside window seals just to get them to fit flush with the door (where they screw into the door)-----Jack

i just changed those on my 87 gn the other day, you might have the wrong ones, did you check the part number on it with the ones at g.m. i got mine through the dealership, even though they didnt stock them the were still available to order i have even seen others on here give the part number, the ones i installed have a rubber strip on the outside part that fit over the door, they dont go over the door like the stock ones but still fit flush, if your not talking about that i wold check to see if you got the right ones

I ckd w/ my local dealer,he said these were correct part numbers for them,,the part numbers I got are 20674283 and 20674282---what part numbers did you use ?? These look identical to the old ones except where they screw onto the door,the other side where they fit up against the door flush ,this where the problem is,,they dont sit flush up against the door---Jack

Those are the correct numbers and GM still has 100's in stock. I've replaced a few of these and you may need to bend them just a little to get them to fit flush like you want. Be careful because you cant tweak them to much. Are you using the existing screw holes in the door with the original screws? Try pushing down on the molding before you tighten them and see if that helps some. Other than that all you can do is redrill the holes as a last resort.
