Bison,
Congrats on the new appointment! :cool:
I am sure the HA members are all excited about your involvement as a no nonsense, get to the bottom moderator!
Look forward to some fresh perspective on HA performance! (Double :cool:)

Question;
If you were to advice on a 11.5@115 MPH (arbitrary numbers ;)) stock configuration HA build, what parts would you use in the combo?
231 CID, 93 + alky, 3700 lbs.

Thanks Jerryl. When you say stock do you mean without doing anything to the intake manifold? Id be using a lot of alky and probably go right to a T04E 60 trim or 60-1 compressor and the T31 high flow turbine. If you could get any of the newer turbos with carbon seal id go with a 57 trim ex wheel. If you were going to cut open the intake, or run an 86-87 intake and re-plumb id run a small 206 cam. If not id run something with around 200@.050. PTC 9.5" converter and the best fuel you can get. Timing will really help with the poor flowing intake and id be running 25-26* even at 30psi with C16. You will need to be able to run 30+psi to get that number with the stock intake. It would be a lot easier if you had an engine that had 9.3-9.5:1 CR and c16. Tall slicks and trans brake out of the hole. With the stock untouched intake your done over 4800rpm. Maybe even a little sooner.

I mean: Stock intake - ported, ported irons, stock location turbo.
Thanks!

I mean: Stock intake - ported

How so? Will it be cut open and reconfigured. Porting does little for that intake. There is a lot of flow restriction where the air enters the intake and flows outward toward the ports. Without altering the intake significantly your best bet is to keep the rpm as low as possible and run a lot of boost. You will need to supplement a lot of methanol in there to drop the charge air temp. Plan on 15-20% of the fueling needs taken up by the methanol.

When you say reconfigured, I'm guessing that means finessing flow more than just cutting it open and gutting it out?

It really is a confounded design. Just looking at this thing makes me want to buy stock in JB weld...

Cutting it open would be the minimum to get some flow out of it. Porting by itself does about nothing.
