I just thought I would share this with you guys. For those of you that don't know me or what I do, I am a Master Goldsmith with 38 years in the business. I have certain skills that other jewelers require from time to time and I take on those jobs as part of my business. A week or so ago I received an Engagement ring that needed some work. It was beat up and looked as though it had been in a fire. The moment I touched it I felt sick to my stomach. I figured I was getting the flu or a cold. Anyway I have a routine procedure for cleaning something like this. It begins with heating up the item and burning off any impurities. I do use a protective coating on the ring, but it has never produced a reaction like this.
This is where it gets interesting. While I was heating the ring, it shot a green and purple flame vertically about 2 feet. Yes, I said vertically. It hung there for about a second. Not like a burning flame that goes out instantly. It was the most bizarre thing I had ever seen in my years of doing this business. It was as though something was being released from a trap. The strange thing is that I instantly felt the most peaceful and euphoric feeling I have ever had. Like being in the presence of Divinity. I know it sounds unbelievable and weird. After a time, I wrapped up the ring and sent it out to the jeweler. I asked if there was a story to this ring and told him about my experience. He put his head down and said that the young girl that was wearing this ring was killed in a head on collision with a semi trailer. The ring was to be buried with this young girl this weekend.
This is the truth and a personal experience. I have had a few in my life and in my trade. This just happens to be the latest. Maybe I will post some of the other ones sometime. Makes me wonder. I am still a little stunned by this, but somehow feel blessed.
