The electrically connected solenoid over on the passenger side valve cover, has 1 open vent tube and 1 vent tube covered with foam. Anybody know if a resistor can be plugged in place of the solenoid to keep the service engine soon light from coming on?

You're talking about the wastegate solenoid? It should have a hose hooked to one port and foam over the other. If the solenoid has a "open" in the windings the check engine light will illuminate. Not sure why you want to put a resistor in it since that's what the computer uses to control the boost. To answer your question, just measure the resistance of a known good solenoid and then solder the correct resistor in the harness if you want to remove the solenoid and toss it. Be warned though, doing that can cause severe engine damage if the boost is not controlled by something!!!!!!!
