Im looking to get a higher stall converter since i dont like the low stall one that came with my new tranny(1650 rated). I was looking at the Pat's 12” GM Street/Strip part #1200 in a 2800 stall. Anyone used this converter? How is it for a daily driver. That seems like an awful good price. Any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks
Dale

I've got the 3200 lockup in my car and it worked great for the few weeks I drove the car with it.....ended up hurting a rod bearing not too long after getting it installed... :o . I'll really be putting it to the test here shortly though.....putting the GT6152 turbo on once the new motor is done. I wouldn't have any second thoughts about going back with another Pat's unit.

Thanks, what part of GA you in Slo86GN? Upstate SC here. By the way....are these converters tight under normal driving until you put a real load on them or are they kinda mushy all the time?

I can't speak for all of them, I know they used to make a quality L/U 12" converter and it required a D5 core. We just pulled a 10" out of a customers car about 2 weeks ago that ripped all of the mounting pads off (12 second car) and replaced it with one of our heavy duty lock up units. The Pats converter has a ring welded to it and then the mounting pads are welded to that ring. The bolt holes do not go all the way through that ring so it relies on the welds alone to hold the power of the engine, didnt look like much penetration on the welds to me. If you decide to go with a Pats, MAKE SURE you drill all the way through the plate and use longer bolts so you can install nuts on the back side.
