pedal gets hard little braking

I have vacuum brakes and they have been fine but recently if I am at a light and creeping forward all of a sudden pedal gets hard and little brakin I have to let off the brakes and hit it again and then it's fine

Check for a bad check valve on the booster or a leak in the vacuum line feeding it.
