Just curious if anybody has removed the associated plumbing with an A/C removal. The A/C was removed from my GN (much to my liking) but the metal lines running near the radiator, and back into the cockpit are still there. Only the hoses and compressor are gone.
I was wondering a) if anybody had removed that stuff, and b) how difficult was it. I know my car's no speed demon, and shedding those lines won't make a big difference. I'm just one of those anal types that hates extra weight on my car. Thanks!

Just start taking stuff off...

It's all mostly around and inside the AC box on the passenger side firewall. I have seen people take all the stuff out and replace it with a sheetmetal cover over the hole. Looks pretty nice on a fast car, gives it a "racy" look.

It was all gone on mine when I bought it, so can't say how hard it was. I wasn't going to put it all back in :) Mine had the whole thing removed, heater, controls, and all. It might be another 30lbs or so for all of it. The lines are way light. Just be prepared to get that nasty black sticky stuff on everything. It doesn't wash out well, and spreads like crazy. That would be the worse part I would say. You might consider the underlayment instead if you are weight crazy. I hear it was 70+ lbs on mine! They glued the carpet back down & you can hardly tell. Less cushion of course, but not much louder. Lets the heat from the DP & exhaust thru faster, but that is how I defrosted my windows on the cool mornings :) Bad idea if you live in Phoenix or Vegas :D

My heat and A/C is completely gone. I made my own cover for the heater box out of sheetmetal. It was pretty easy. The only hard part was removing the heater box. I finally got frustrated and grabbed the BFH (Big F-ing Hammer) and "removed" the heater/A/C box. There are just TOOOOOOO many hidden and PITA screws associated with removing that box. But yes, it really cleans up the engine compartment and #6 plug is now BY FAR the easiest to work with. :D It also made a nice place to put my "Heartbeat stops here" sticker which ALWAYS gets a few comments at cruises/shows. :D
