It was staged. If you look closely you'll see tire skid marks where they practiced or had more "takes".

He may have practiced beforehand to know where to go they had to prepare, set up the car he ran off the road and put a camera there, block off certain areas plus of you notice everywhere he spun the car around except for the dealer lot the ground was wet..... I think it was partially staged and prepared but the dealer guy would have to be a hell of an actor to fake that...
